A flash is a device used in photography producing a flash of artificial light that comes out at the speed of 1/1000 – 1/2000 of a second. Since flash happens in a really short amount of time, your camera can only use the light from the flash if the shutter or certain blades and the mirror is completely up at the moment of the flash. A flash is mainly used to lighten a photo or capturing moving subjects. Flash is used to make pictures look better. You probably think that there is just one type of flash photography. But no, you’re wrong there are many different kinds, and by knowing these it will make your pictures way better.
One type of flash photography is called direct flash. This is where a burst of light is right on the person. You can do this with the built-in flash that many cameras have. Another type is called fill flash, and this helps balance the light of your subject and the darker areas so that the camera can get a picture of both. There are more types of flash photography called: bounce flash, stroboscopic flash and many more. Whether you want to brighten or catch a freeze frame flash can help you in many ways.
