Ansel Adams was a professional photographer and a person who protected the environment, also known as a conservationist.
Ansel was the only child of Charles Hitchcock and Olive Brady Adams. He was born on February 20, 1902, in San Francisco, California. As a child he went through difficult time such as: in the aftershock of the great earthquake in 1906 gave him a broken nose when he threw himself to the floor, which scarred him for life. His nose was never repaired and seemed crooked until he ceased. He went to private and public schools and only received an eighth grade education. Learning didn’t interest him much as the outdoors did.  At the age of twelve he was interested in photography. In 1916 he went on a family trip to Yosemite National Park, where he made his first amateur photos which made him decide to be a photographer. He found a job in commercial firm, which helped him learn about his hobby.
Ansel Adams worked as a photographer from the age of 17 all the way till he got old. At 17 he joined the Sierra Club, which preserves the nature and environment. Ansel stayed in the club for his entire life and served as a director and so did his wife.
Adams was known for his black and white photographs of the California's Yosemite Valley. He took most of his pictures in this valley, over 500.  His style of photography never changed within the years because of the love he had for nature and photography. His best picture was Moon and a Half Dome in 1960.
Ansel Adams died on April 22, 1984. While he lived he was always criticized for taking pictures of rocks and mountains while the world was falling apart. When he died he left his wife, two children and five grandchildren.
