Libradita Villalobos
Period 2
“Photography comes from the Greek words of photos which means “light” and graph which means “draw”. Sir John F.W Herschel was the first to use the word in 1839. Photography is the method of recording images by the action of light on a sensitive material. Alhazen, who lived in the 1000AD, invented the first pinhole camera, also known as the camera obscura. The person who made the first photographic image was Joseph Nicephore Niepce with the camera obscura. Other people besides Niepce just used the camera for drawing or viewing causes not for taking photographs. Niepce’s heliographs also called sun prints were the prototype for the modern photograph, by letting the sun draw the picture. Louis Daguerre was the inventor of the first process of photography. He formed a partnership with Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1829 to improve the process Niepce had developed.
